About
Gillett Milling is a third-generation, family-operated feed mill in Gillett, Wisconsin. Emil Vandermause was the first generation to own and operate the feed mill, then called Ansorage Distributing, from 1974-1987. Next, Emil Vandermause’s son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Deana Vandermause, ran the business for 35 years from 1987 to 2022. Steve started working at the mill at the age of 15 and continues to grind and mix feed for Gillett Milling today. His sons Shawn and Sam Vandermause began working full-time at the mill after high school.
Third-Generation Family Business
Growing up with the family business, it was natural for the brothers to take over the feed mill. On Jan. 1, 2023, Shawn and Same Vandermause and Shawn’s wife, Hailey, became third-generation owners. Shawn, Sam and Hailey provide the same high-quality feed, friendly customer service and reasonable prices that Gillett Milling has offered Oconto County for the past 50 years.
Friendly, Small-Town Service
The Vandermause family maintains its commitment to friendly, small-town service. Gillett Milling doesn’t just look after the needs of the big farms. The staff also serves the small farms of Oconto County, Shawano County and beyond. Carrying a wide range of products, Gillett Milling caters to dairy and livestock farmers, hobby farmers, deer hunters, gardeners, homeowners and pet owners.
Fresh, Nourishing Feed at a Fair Price
Animals require high-quality and nourishing feed to grow and reach their full potential. Nutritional products, combined with sound management practices, contribute to the overall health and well-being of animals. Gillett Milling helps ensure animals are healthy and strong by providing fresh, nourishing feed at reasonable prices. Gillett Milling bases its prices on the Grain Market Reports, adjusting prices on inbound commodities such as corn, soymeal and distillers grain.
Feed Mixing & Pellet Making
Fast and efficient, Gillett Milling uses its own recipes for feed or mixes feed to farm nutritionists’ specifications. Gillett Milling even has its own pellet-making machine, dating back to Emil’s tenure, to form fresh pellets for rabbit and livestock feed and crumbles for chickens and other poultry.
